Latest News: Lead the Way Students Expand Horizons Through Atlanta Experience

At Lead the Way, we remain deeply committed to creating transformative experiences that expose students to opportunity, purpose, and possibility. Through a strategic partnership with The Student Stakeholder LLC, our students recently participated in a dynamic, multi-day Atlanta experience designed to blend career exposure, college readiness, and real-world engagement.

This intentional experience went beyond travel—it was carefully structured to help students explore postsecondary pathways, build confidence, and engage with their broader community in meaningful ways.

What the Experience Meant for Our Students

Throughout the Atlanta trip, students were immersed in a variety of educational, cultural, and service-based opportunities that expanded their perspective and strengthened their sense of direction. Highlights included:

  • Direct exposure to five major institutions: Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University—offering students firsthand insight into diverse academic environments and campus cultures

  • Cultural and professional enrichment through a live Atlanta Hawks vs. New York Knicks NBA game, providing exposure to professional sports operations and networking environments

  • Intentional team-building and peer connection activities, strengthening relationships and reinforcing collaboration, communication, and leadership skills

  • Hands-on community service at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, where students completed service hours while learning about food insecurity and the importance of civic responsibility

Each component was thoughtfully curated to ensure students were not only engaged, but actively reflecting on their futures and the role they can play in shaping them.

The Impact: From Exposure to Action

This experience was more than a trip—it was a pipeline‑building opportunity that delivered lasting impact. As a result of the Atlanta experience, students:

  • Expanded their vision for college and career pathways

  • Strengthened confidence, self-awareness, and peer connection

  • Developed a deeper understanding of leadership through service

  • Reinforced the importance of giving back to the communities they are a part of

By combining exposure, preparation, and intentional reflection, students were empowered to move from inspiration to action.

Gratitude to Our Partners and Funders

We are proud to design and deliver opportunities that ensure students are not only inspired—but equipped. This experience was made possible through the collective efforts of our valued partners and funders.

We extend our sincere thanks to Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, and ASPYR Workforce Innovation for investing in experiences that drive real, measurable outcomes for youth. Their support allows us to continue building pathways that connect education, workforce development, and community impact.

Building Future Leaders

This is how we build future leaders—through intentional experiences, strategic partnerships, and measurable impact. The Atlanta experience stands as a powerful example of what is possible when collaboration, purpose, and opportunity come together in service of student success.
