Lead the Way Awarded $75,000 to Expand Summer Youth Programs

Lead the Way is proud to announce that we have been awarded $75,000 in summer youth funding as part of the City of Columbus’s investment in community‑based programs serving young people across the city. The announcement was made this Monday at the Westgate Community Center, led by Mayor Ginther, where Lead the Way joined fellow community organizations, city leaders, and partners for the official funding reveal.

In total, the City of Columbus committed $7.5 million to 105 community organizations, all working to provide safe, engaging, and impactful summer opportunities for youth. Lead the Way is honored to be among the recipients trusted to deliver programming that supports academic growth, career readiness, and positive youth development during the summer months.

Strengthening Opportunities for Youth

The $75,000 award will directly support Lead the Way’s summer youth programs, allowing the organization to continue providing hands‑on learning opportunities, workforce exposure, mentorship, and skill‑building experiences for students across Columbus. These programs are designed to help young people stay engaged throughout the summer while gaining tools that support long‑term academic and career success.

Summer programming plays a critical role in preventing learning loss, strengthening social‑emotional skills, and creating safe spaces for youth to explore their interests and potential. With this funding, Lead the Way will be able to reach more students and deepen the impact of its services during a pivotal time of year.

A Citywide Commitment to Youth

The announcement at Westgate Community Center reflected a broader, citywide commitment to investing in young people and the organizations that serve them. By supporting 105 community groups, the City of Columbus is reinforcing a shared goal: ensuring that youth across all neighborhoods have access to opportunities that promote learning, safety, and personal growth.

Lead the Way was proud to be present at the event alongside partners working collectively to strengthen Columbus communities. The gathering highlighted the power of collaboration between the city and nonprofit organizations to create pathways for youth success.

Looking Ahead

As Lead the Way prepares for another impactful summer, this funding will help ensure that students continue to receive high‑quality programming rooted in empowerment, access, and opportunity. The organization remains committed to its mission of helping young people gain clarity, inspiration, and the skills needed to thrive in school, work, and life.

Lead the Way extends its sincere thanks to the City of Columbus, community partners, and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we are leading the way for youth—this summer and beyond.
