Lead the Way (LTW) had its Kickoff on Monday, September 14 for our inaugural year at Groveport Madison Cruiser Accel. Cruiser Accel is the high school credit recovery program for juniors and seniors. Coach Glenn Byers, Dr. Kerra S. Carson, and Frederick Lee, Jr. shared what LTW is and how we can serve them. We also talked about the expectations that youth have to be committed and compliant in the program. We answered questions, gave away swag items (the t-shirts were a hot commodity), and talked with all of the enrolled upper classes. The interest was phenomenal!

We want to thank the Cruiser Accel Administrator, Mr. Ty Olverson for hosting us and allowing us into the space and look forward to a productive and exciting year at Cruiser Accel!

The event provided an opportunity for young people to learn, ask questions, and participate in meaningful discussions surrounding the realities and challenges of living with sickle cell.

Overall, the meeting created a space for awareness, education, dialogue, and empowerment, reinforcing the importance of knowledge and community support when addressing sickle cell disease.
